I finally gave in to Windows 8.1

Like many others I was not to excited about the new windows 8. I particularly did not like the boot to the start screen and getting to some of the features that I was familiar with. Over the years having gone thru all the different operating systems ending up with Windows 7 Pro I was a happy camper.

A few weeks ago I bought a new HP desktop that was on sale but only came with Windows 7 Pro. Two weeks after receiving the new desktop I decided to take the plunge. I bought a new hard drive and installed windows 8, keeping the old drive just in case I wanted to go back. Initially, I was not to happy but I kept at it and was becoming familiar with the new system, but I kept going for the old start button. I even tried some third party software that gave me back the familiar desktop. My real acceptance of the new windows 8 came when I installed the 8.1upgrade. The new system in general seems to be very fast and has some new features that work very well with my old software. With a right click on the new windows button on the taskbar many of the programs that I use are back and the system boots up to the old desktop. So I am once again a happy camper. I should say that I have spent MANY hours over the last 10 days or so getting into the system and several times I thought about going back

Just thought I would pass on my thoughts.

Good for you, it shows intelligence over stubbornness. Maybe you can post ways you overcome changes, it may help others new to win 8, 8.1.
P.S. Do something about your "Space" button, seems it doesn't work every time.

The desktop came with a wireless keyboard that may be the problem. I'll keep an eye on it.

I'll go back thru the posts, maybe I can offer some suggestions

Have a great day
