How to search pdf files in win 8.1

I have bought a new laptop with win 8.1. ( I would have preferred Win 7 but it only came with win 8.) This laptop is being dedicated as a paperless file storage system. I scan all my paperwork to PDF files and store in folders.
I have been trying to find a way to be able to search these PDF files, the only way I have found was to add words in the file tags. I can search OK in Win 7 but the tags do not appear in win 8.1.

    Any suggestions.

Make sure you are indexing where ever you have stored your PDF files. Then go to Indexing options and then advanced and check you are searching properties and file contents (see below).

If you don't have a filter for PDF you can get one here Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows : PDF iFilter 64 11.0.01

I added the PDF ifilter but it made no difference still could not find tag/keyword.
    Thanks Bob

Update:-- I had to re-index for it to work. Sorry my fault not used to win 8

Any other suggestions on how to a add keywords or other text info to a pdf file to make it searchable in win 8.1. As to to edit tags/keywords I need to run another program.

    Thanks Bob

PDF filter works for mine - search will find words within the document. Are you searching PDF's that are pictures or text or both?
