    (Win8.1) Refresh Install option "some files are missing"

    Hi guys,

    what do I do if the refresh install on W8.1 says that I'm missing files?

    I installed W8 from a retail disc and upgraded to 8.1 via Windows Update. I can't use the W8 disc, it says invalid media.

    Do I just follow the steps shown on the tutorial here?

    Thanks.

    Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create

    OPTION ONE
    Download Windows 8.1 Update ISO File with Retail Windows 8 Key

    NOTE: This will not work if you use an OEM or system builders product key.
    So I'll need to revert to W8 manually before doing a refresh? Or could I do it as long as I have an ISO of W8.1?

    1) Download Windows 8.1 -> link

    2) Create a Windows 8.1 DVD or USB flash drive.

    3) Refresh or Reset Windows 8.1

    Sorry, I didn't say it clearly on my post. I only have a Windows 8 OEM disc and key.

    Thanks for the help genet.
