Hello Probe, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The .reg file above should restore Notepad as the default program for .txt files.

Did you already try using "Open with" to select to always use Notepad2 to open .txt files?

Thank you Brink, I have actually been coming here for years and got a lot of great information from your help here. So much so I haven't needed to signup till now. You are the go to "Alien" (avatar) in these forums for help.

Anyway, I just noticed something. Why it took me this long to catch this I don't know. This one text file I need to keep reading (it's login info to one of my websites cPanel) only says "File" next to it, NOT "Text File". So, I stand corrected, Notepad2 IS working on all text files except this one. I must have saved it wrong maybe?

It's possible that you may have made a mistake while saving it. You might see if you may be able to open the file from within Notepad2, and save it properly afterwards.

If not, then you could see if renaming the file extension to have .txt to see if you may then be able to open it with Notepad2.
