Hi, I need help with windows 8.1

Hi, everyone
I need some help, I just installed windows 8.1 on my new pc that I mad and everything worked at the time but know allmost all my programs and software are not responding, so when I open a program say notepad it works and everything then allove a sudden it freezes and have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and the task manger opens and then I selected the program that's not responding and click end task, and when I do that the task manger stops work and the only thing to do is farce restart. Please help me thanks for your time.

Hello Andrea,

You might see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this started may hopefully fix this for you.

The thing is that I do not have a system restore because I just installed it 2 days ago. So I don't know what to do. Windows 8 is way deference then 7, could it be something open that I don’t know, I will look to see if there’s something weird. I did do something that I don’t do, I have been using a antivirus software, could that be a problem, in 7 I just used that windows one, I forgot the name but, do you think that could be it.

System Restore is not what you think that it is. It removes any updates that may be the culprit why your system is freezing.

Then again, since this system originally had Windows 7 on it. It may not be 100% fully capable of even running Windows 8.x.x on it. You may end up just having to stick with Windows 7 sp1.

No this system never had any operating system on it, Its new, I was just saying that windows 7 is different then 8 thats all.

Did you actually check to see if you have any restore points? If not, why not?

I assume you were using Microsoft Essentials for an AV in Windows 7. In Windows 8 it is called Windows Defender.
Did you install a third party AV in Windows 8? If so, try uninstalling it.

If all else fails you might consider doing a Refresh.
