Possible to customise folderviews for different folders

So I wonder if I can get my windows 8.1 to remember different viewing settings for different folders in explorer.
For instance when I open c:\ I want to see hidden systemfolders and operation files. c:\programs with pagefile.sys and so on. But when I'm at my desktop which defaults to d:\users\.... I don't want to see the same systemfiles.

And not sure how to go about to do that and if it even is possible.

If you're talking about the 2 .ini files you could try the experiment in the following link, however, there's a good chance it may mess up your desktop configuration/wallpaper, etc.
I highly recommend, no..., I DEMAND you create a restore point before trying this!

I tried it in a VM and haven't seen any repercussions, (yet!)
Try it at your own discretion!

    Nice, thanks a lot.
Will try it out later today when I have more time to fiddle with a potential messed up system.

LOL! Try it only if you think it's worth it! Good luck, keep us posted!

Ok, it works just fine except for one slightly annoying issue, the invisble folder icon seems to turn into a black icon after a reboot.
And seems to dislike being transparent, otherwise I don't see windows bothering to recreate the ini or thumbs.db file(s).

K..., in that case you need to create an icon to match your desktop wallpaper which means you would have to use a solid color; then take a 'snip' of an empty spot on your desktop, convert it to a 256X256 ico, (icon), file using an online convertor, then place that in a folder that won't get moved, perhaps the System Directory, then choose that as the icon.

Ugh, I use a slide show of miscellaneous pictures on the lightning theme.
Which I'm very fond of, so in that case I can live with a black box in an obscure corner.

When I connect my Android phone to my computer via USB to access storage, it treats all the folders as music folders - this means that in Details view I don't get "date modified" but "track number", "artist", "album", etc.. despite this being completely irrelevant to the content of all but a single...
Hey, quick question. I can't seem to find a way to add new folders to the Folders group under This PC. Last I checked, the only way was to insert the CLSID into the registry at those locations, but what about custom folders without a CLSID? I don't want to go around trying to register new CLSID...

This post from another thread had me wondering - the WinX folder holds some more Group folders which in turn hold shortcuts. Is it possible to customise what appears from the Windows-X shortcut by creating extra shortcuts into this folder? Or would it wreck my user configuration!?
