Storage Spaces

I currently have 9 TB of data on storage spaces. I have it setup as a simple storage with no redundancy. I would like to add a new drive and pull out an old drive. I have followed many tutorials to do this but nothing seems to be working. I tried to mark the old drive as retired and remove it but windows will not move the data off of it. Is there a better way to do this? I am familiar enough with powershell so if I need to use that I can. If I knew it was going to be this hard to remove a drive I would have just used drive bender. Is there a way to take my existing storage pool and convert it to another program or go in at the drive level and move the files off the drive I want to drop?

Thank you
