Solved Event-viewer capability.

Can anyone tell me if I as a beginner would find it difficult using Event viewer to chase down the start and closing times of any program I might have on my computer going back to perhaps the first launch of a program soon after the unboxing of the laptop ? I have found entries for Wake & Sleep time via the Power troubleshooter event source, from the system category in the tree view, but would it be much more complex to do the same only for many different programs rather than simply identifying when the machine was switched on and off ?
