Sudden change in font, and fade for metro is gone

The title says it all, this happened when my Skyrim just suddenly froze, and in a panic, I started to press alt F4 a lot, then I gave up, so I just signed out, but then when I signed back in, the text was white and there's no more fade in and out for metro and applications when I minimize/maximize them. Please help me

Hello Confessobear, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It sounds like your visual effects settings may have been reset.

Visual Effects - Adjust in Windows 8

Double check to see if the two below are still checked.

    • Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing
    • Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks for the reply Shawn, sorry I was out for a while. The fade stuff is working now, thanks, but the font still looks the same And yes, they are both checked now.

    You're welcome.

The Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

The title says is all. :) I'm sure there must be a way to do this. Right now the color (white) blends in way too much with everything else on the page, so that it is very difficult to even see the category titles.

change the font for paths in General Support
How would I set up Windows 8 so that I can edit the `path` environment variable in a fixed pitch font such as `Console` or `Lucida Console`? I don't want to change the font for other parts of Windows - only where paths are displayed. It seems I've been doing this in a terribly inappropriate font...
I've searched a lot on this topic but I have failed to find anything that works. In particular, the suggestion to use option 2 or 3 (registry edit) of a similar tutorial in the win7 forums, does not work for me. Has anyone gotten this to work? Particularly on win 8.1.1? PK
