Too Much Time To Startup As well as For Shut Down

Hi windows 8 is taking too much time to start as well as for shut down as compared to its state some days ago i havnt installed any new software...changed registry or have done any thing else.....please guide me what should i do..i have changed from win 7 just because of its huge startup time

If you used the same PC for 7, then I shall assume that it has to do with hardware. If not, I recommend that you should just store personal files in a thumb drive. I was once a cluttery user until my mom recommended that to me. I think it is a great idea since all that will be stored in your PC are just apps/software, and media files for leisure.

http://www.eightforums.com/performance-maintenance/6518-restart-time-12.html includes a script for measuring system restart time and the measurements for many configurations. Running the script and comparing against a system similar to yours would give an idea of the condition of your system.

Looking at your system specs, you shouldn't have any problems with slow startup/shutdown.

How long have you had Windows 8/8.1 installed? Did you "upgrade" from Windows 7 or did you do a clean install? Upgrading from one operating system to another is never advisable, but from your post, it seems that Windows 8 was faster a few days ago than it is now?

You may need to defrag your hard drive and maybe clean out temporary files, but I'm not thinking that's the problem.
