Hey all,

So I noticed the Start button's Windows icon is missing in my metro mode. I'm not exactly sure what it's called, but it's the multitask pane on the left side of the screen that appears when you hover over the top left corner and slide down. Rather than a Windows icon it now assumes the Accent color in PC settings.

I have some modding software installed, such as UxStyle, Aero Glass for W8, and a custom theme, although this issue existed without these installed.

It doesn't bother me that much, though I would gladly appreciate some help on how to get it back. Attached are two pics, one default and one on hover.

(My keyboard has no Print Screen button and Snipping tool doesn't seem to work in Metro)

You stated why it is not showing. I would complain to whomever wrote the theme software that you are using to change the layout. Regarding this issue.

I don't think it's the themes as it was already missing before they were installed. Even it if were them, these are standard Windows .theme files, which don't traditionally modify metro elements. Any other ideas?

I did some testing on a fresh install and found out what the problem was... turns out it was graphics drivers.

When I updated to the latest drivers, the issue would occur. The icon would be missing, the bottom half of the charms bar would not display properly and be completely green, and also GeForce Experience would flash like crazy making it very difficult to use. So maybe Windows 8 is using something fancy to display metro elements that NVidia doesn't yet support? Strange.

For anyone with a GeForce 320M, it seems like the driver version 337.88 is the culprit. Drivers one or two versions behind may also have this issue, I haven't tested. I know for sure previous versions also make GeForce Experience flash a lot. Although the bundled v331 drivers from a year ago definitely work without any issues.
