Black screen on factory reset attempt

I got a 2013 HP laptop win8 and when I attempt to do recovery, restore or even a Img bkup it goes to a black screen with mouse cursor that I'm able to move around but it does nothing else even if I let it sit for hours. I tried to use the built hp software to make a factory recovery disc but it said there was no recovery partition as if it were deleted but in fact a quick look with windows explorer shows it does exists and it perfectly intact plus the disk management shows it intact, healthy and labeled as recovery. As I said before I can reboot into the menu to choose to recover, restore and everything else but once I select one i get the black screen with the mouse arrow. Im trying to avoid buying the discs from hp. Would there be something possibly hiding or blocking the recovery partition ? Maybe a bad registry entry ? I've tried setting folder options to show hidden files and system files. Anyone have any recommendations ?

I saw a website the other day that suggested turning off the Secure Boot on an HP machine. There seemed to be a process where you needed to enter a code you were given in order to turn it off.

I suppose other options might depend on your graphics configuration. If you can move your display back to an onboard or basic video output it might help. I do not know why doing such a thing would help since you are going back to a Factory configuration, but maybe something is getting stuck in the system and needs to be reset.

Knowing the Exact HP model number might help in research.

Yea secure boot inside the bios settings after u set it to disable and press f10 to save changes it gives a 4 digit code that u just retype which made no difference on my behalf unfortunately. I also switched over to regular VGA output and nothing. It very well still could be a graphic problem though or anything else. To the average person the OS looks fine but when u go into the cp/system info it won't show any memory,CPU speed nor does it show ms win8 product key so I know better and IMO just needs restored hence why I'm even trying to recover the machine. Sorry for not giving machine info in the first place. HP 2000-2b19wm. I will keep trying and will come back and share info once I get it solved.
