Hello - i was able to get as far as having the px load from camera to computer & somehow all px got installed into the computer but only temporarily !
While camera was still attached to tower, I clicked on Control Panel/Computer/then the list of programs in computer and then i saw the name of the camera (cannon Power Shot) ...then Cannon 100, clicked on that and then saw all px - was able to individually email some to myself but when i detached cable from tower to camera and went back to ''Computer'' found Cannon 100 but no px were there -so obviously i wasn't able to save them.....but strangely enough 3 of the downloaded px were in the ''DCIM' folder (whatever that term means)...but i don't know how those 3 got there !
So i got far enough to download & 'view' but don't know how to ''save'' the px in the computer for future viewing without the necessity of attaching the camera....besides i'd like to delete some px from the camera once saved into the computer.....I'm so used to XP !!!!! hope someone can help me. thanks in advance.... (please don't send me to ''tutorials' - i get even more confused there - LOL) ;)

Just right click on the photo(s) and choose to Cut. Then paste them into the appropriate Photos library. Not that hard to do. It works the same in Windows 8 as it has in previous versions.

Give you a little secret. Stop working in the Metro screen and work in the Desktop mode. You will find that Windows 8 works better that way.

wow! thanks so much - what you wrote above did work !! it was easy ...i just have to know the difference between ''removable'' and 'fixed' but that doesn't matter i guess - did some hunt/pecks at first - but at least i got them downloaded & saved ... i did find out how to click on the above menu at that site to ''save all'' - hope i remember all of this in the future ... thanks so much
also - what is 'Metro screen - i have what's called a Desktop mode when i click on ''start'... so maybe i am in the right 'place' after all ?
another reply mentioned getting a Microsoft download program for photos & downloading them - it's the post after yours ....
Thank you so much !!! Edythe
