Reasons not to go back to Windows 8:
    1. Soon you won't be able to run Windows updates under 8
    2. You can set to auto login when booting up your PC or if you like, you can login as local user.
    3. 8.1 is more user friendly than 8
    4. Try this program if it fix your problem opening folder: Drive Tools for Windows Cleanup right click and run as Admin

The other part that has been left out. Is that Microsoft no longer supports Windows 8. They now only support 8.1 & 8.1.1.

    You're welcome and
Instead of playing with registry hack, Here's a little tool that allow you to set up autologin:
    Download Auto Logon Tool 1.4

    faster

Since going to 8.1, my laptop has booted & shutdown much faster than under Win 8. I can get to start screen ready to work in under 10 seconds, and a shutdown takes 6 seconds. Very happy.

When I think back to the laptop I used at a previous employer (Compaq / Win XP) that would take over 3 minutes to boot & the best part of that to shut down...

There is no need for a registry hack, just type netplwiz or control userpasswords2 and tick a check box.
Log On User Account Automatically at Windows 8 Startup
