Probably not but it still written badly. Programs should keep their log files in their own space (in %APPDTA% is fairly normal for example).

If you were interested you could delete the file and reboot in safe mode and see if it gets recreated (which it won't I bet).
Assuming it isn't you could then use Autoruns for Windows to turn off everything that starts when you sign on and restart normally and see if it is created.

If it is created it is a problem Windows process (or a virus), if it isn't then you are a step forward and you can start things one by one.

If it were me I wouldn't like it but I'd rather re-install Windows than do the investigation as it only takes a couple of hours to re-install and the investigation could go on almost indefinitely.

I wouldn't ignore it personally though as I get a bit OCD about things I don't understand. I'm not saying you should worry at all - only that I would (mildly).

I'm with you, Adam. Things that go "bump" in my computer upset me a whole lot! It's amazing that even Microsoft seems to have created a "rogue" that misbehaves. As I said, "generic" agents with no known app link shouldn't be allowed at all in Windows.

You are so right. Look at all this rubbish in the root of my Windows Directory. Most of it is Microsoft stuff stuck in the wrong place which I would delete but dare not..

Edit: "Should" or "Could" delete rather than "Would delete" perhaps. Anyway it is mostly junk. Probably.

I un-installed Intel Manageability Engine Firmware Recovery Agent and no agent log file appeared! At least not yet! But I have a feeling that this was the program creating it. And I remember that I got error during its update. So in a way It all make sense now. Hope this is the real deal as I got really tired trying to figure out this agent log issue....
