    Command prompt (Admin)

Everytime I try to use the above command, the console box vanishes within a second.

I have also tried to install chrome, the console opens and closes winthin a second, hence not able to read any nessages.

    I have full administrator right.
    No viruses

    Thanks

You open an Administrative command prompt by using Win+x or right clicking the Windows 8 logo on the taskbar and selecting it.

If you are logged in as administrator there is no need to use Command Prompt (Admin) to install Chrome. Not knowing which AV program you are using, you may disable your Antivirus program temporarily also and see if the result is the same.

Actually I have a similar problem, though I do not know if it has the same cause.

Mine appears to be a fault of the takeown command going haywire.

May I upload a picture of relevant info? (And how do I do that, I almost never upload pictures into a forum...)

Or should I start a separate topic for my troubles?

    Hi crystalorbie

It would be preferable that you create a new thread.

To upload a picture, use the following tutorial.

Sorry maybe I did not explain properly.

1- If I click command propt (Admin) from start menu, the console vanishes within second, hence not able to read anything.

2- This migh/not be related. I tried to install chrome, the console flashes on screen, and nothing happenes after that, ie not installed.

I do log in as administrator
    disable anti viruse

    I don't what else I can try

    PS
I created another log in name as administrator, the result is the same

Sure you have a problem. Please try the following:

+R and type "cmd" (see if you get a cmd window)
+R and type powershell (see if you get a powershell window)

Depending if either of these work you can then run through the usual steps - sfc /scannow, dsim /restorehealth, remove virus and so on.

Try them first though and see where we are.

Edit: If you get either open you can use "runas" to adopt authority.

    Both windows open.
I tried to run sfc /scannow, I get the msg: you must be an administrator running a console session in order to use sfc utility.

But I am an administrator, checked under user group, showinf as administrator.
    Thanks

No, no, no. Everyone thinks that because their profile is part of the "Administrator" group you can do anything. This is not the case.

Unless you really are signed on as "Administrator" Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable in Windows 8 (which you are not or you would know it) you aren't.

With either the normal command prompt or powershell you need to adopt authority. Just type in "runas /?"

    You'll be fine

EDIT - for powershell it is this "Start-Process powershell -Verb runAs" without the quotes, sorry.
