The .exe file for Charms -> Shutdown button

Hello,

It's quite a pickle for me to figure out what .exe file is hidden under the "Shutdown" button in the Charms bar. Most of you will probably think it's just the system32/shutdown.exe, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Why do I care and how do I know? I have a Razer Mamba with charging dock that needs voltage on USB when the PC is off. The problem is that when I shut the PC with a shutdown.exe shortcut, the USB voltage goes off (and no, I can't enable it in my BIOS), whereas it miraculously stays on when I turn my desktop off using the Charms bar button.

I tried the hibernate.exe shortcut too, but this only hibernates the PC, without closing the apps - this I don't need nor want.

I need the proper .exe file for setting up a shortcut for my keyboard so that I can close the PC with one button, instead of going through all that Metro bullshit hassle.

I browsed the web in search for all the shutdown types used in Windows 8.1, but generally found only three methods: full shutdown, hibernate or sleep.

Can anyone help locate the .exe corresponding to the Charms bar button? I'm puzzled and out of ideas.

Yeah, it was, thanks! I figured that out myself in the meantime. Now, does anyone know the system .exe for this? Maybe I'm picky, but although launching the shortcut made from the above command does work, it pops up the cmd window for half a second before shutting the PC down. It looks kinda cheap and unprofessional.

There is no .exe for it. It is a Process for shutdown that happens.

Right. That was a stupid question. I wonder then if there's any way to avoid the cmd screen appearing right before shutdown.

Thanks a lot. I didn't know you could alter the cmd window size in the batch file' properties. I actually just reduced it down to the minimum value and it's perfectly enough to me.

There is a shutdown.exe by the way in system32 directory. Looks like it isn't used though as mine was last accessed in August last year which is before I even installed windows.

Just for s/g you could try 'SlideToShutDown.exe'

That's why my Gigabyte MB has "always on USB battery charge" certain USB ports keep power on even after normal shutdown, Look at your MB manual, might have something like that too.
