    Strange Sound

Every so often my laptop makes a sound like a camera shutter. I'm on 8.1 and I wonder if anyone might have an idea of why this is happening.

    Hello Lumia920,

It sounds like you may be taking a screenshot when you hear that sound. You can check to see if you have any Screenshot(#).png files in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures\Screenshots folder. If you do, then that's what it was.

Screenshot - Capture Screenshots Directly in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I checked the folder and there were no files in there. I rarely take screen shots. I'm going to check out Sounds in the settings.

When it makes the sound, see if it happens after any specific action or event to help narrow it down for you.

Mute the volume to see if it is from the speakers or an actual clicking sound.

Clicks can come from the hard drive when it encounters errors and resets itself and retries reading the data. You may also see the system slow or freeze momentarily when this is going on. If it is the hard drive then the drive may be on it's way to failure - backup now!
