Solved Has there been a beta????

Hi, I've only just started taking a real interest in Windows 8, I know the Consumer Release is the latest, but where are we with the releases? Has there been an Alpha or Beta release?

I couldn't do an upgrade to my Windows 7 because it kept failing, so I've done a fresh install on a new hard-drive, but before I install back all my programs, I want to know if I will be able to keep Windows 8 until the retail release, or will it run out and leave me with a PC I can't get into?

No, The consumer preview is 'the beta'.

Expiry is 2013 for the CP, so the proper release will out before then.

so they will update and stuff as we go along? or will the final version that we have to pay for have all the fixes?

There seems to be updates released, so we should have close to the retail version just before the final is released.
