how to prevent windows from installing microsoft drivers???

so i have a problem where my wifi will disconnect when awaking from sleep mode (have to run wifi trouble shooting mode to fix, about 2min process, but annoying every time i open lid of my laptop from sleep)

problem is,the driver installed is a microsoft driver
i have the factory driver from Antheros, but when try to install it says best driver is already installed
how can i force install, or like when i uninstall the wireless adapter from system device manager, when i hit re-install,for windows NOT to install a driver from its own database, and to just leave it blank(with the yellow exclamation point in device manager). that way, since no driver is installed, i could install the factory antheros without it saying theres the best driver for it installed already(since no driver would be installed at that point)

Are you actually installing the driver as an exe or are you just updating through the device manager. Do you have an exe file that you can install.

    Windows 7 x64 SP1 Home Premium/Win 8.1 in VBox

If this is offered through Microsoft Update you can right click on it and hide it. It won't be offered again. At least this works in win 7 so it should in 8.

    Annoying Problem

I think that what the OP means is, when you uninstall a device in the "Device Manager" and then click the "Scan for hardware changes" button, Windows will reinstall its generic driver, instead of letting you install the real driver.

I was having a similar problem recently.

    Have you tried this?

If you have the exe installer for your driver:

    • Uninstall the device in the "Device Manager".
    • Do not click the "Scan for hardware changes" button.
    • Run the exe installer for your driver.

I have an exe,but installing that crashes windows 8
so i tried the files(that end in .inf and .sys),wont let me add that way, says driver is already up to date

    correct,that is what I mean

but installing the exe (which i got from my laptop manufacturer) crashes windows when i close lid and put in sleep mode, and try to awake from it

the actual maker(antheros) has the .sys and .inf files, i have that too ,but windows wont let me install(says best drivers installed although it says the provide is microsoft, not antheros, and the version numbers are different)

windows 8 works great on my toshiba laptop, only problem is this
