While last windows malware removal tool (MRT.EXE), signed, is in C:/ drive, I found in drive D:/ 5 folders with cryptic names containing each one an older and unsigned MRT.EXE file, each of around 86 megas.

This looks strange to me: windows automatically takes some but no all of the old versions to the other drive?

1) I can safely & simply remove any mrt.exe instance whether it is in drive C or D (and removing the whole cryptic folder in which they are in drive D)?
2) mrt.exe are run once automatically when we get the update every month or the user has to launch it manually?

Thanks
