Moving photos from C Drive to D

Hi, I am new to windows 8 and started copying my photos to my new laptop. I placed them into the Pictures Folder but noticed it wasn't using any space in the D drive. So somehow (not really sure what I did) I've ended up moving my photos to the D Drive but in the process my Pictures Folder has changed to D:\

Not really sure at all what I've done or how to fix it!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

It works the same as it did with XP, Vista, Windows 7. To fix the library issue, see. Libraries Desktop Icon - Add or Remove in Windows 8

I have never had any experience with separate hard-drives so haven't a clue what to do! The D:\ in my folders is supposed to be 'Pictures' if I open this, it opens my actual D Drive up.

In the D Drive I have now made 3 seperate folders, Music, Pictures and Documents and they are all stored on there.

I am still stuck with my folders missing the Pictures file and am wondering if there is a way to show my music etc (that is stored in on my D Drive) in the folders?

Hope someone understands what I'm trying to say!

    Thanks in advance!

Do you have a folder in C:\Users\<YourUsername>\Pictures?

Can you right click on it and 'include it' in the library for 'Pictures'?

Have a look at the following article - it might help (although where the article refers to "My Pictures", I note on my PC its called simply "Pictures"): Library - Add a Folder to in Windows 8

What I do is create new user folders for Documents, Pictures, Videos etc on my D drive. The I go to those same folders in C:\Users\(your user name). I right click each one and select properties and then go to location tab. I click move and then select the matching folder on my D drive. Libraries are automatically updated to the new location.

So from the above, if your Pictures folder is missing in C, try creating one. If you wanted it on your D drive, then create a Pictures folder there too, and then do as alphanumeric suggests above for a 'move' and select the folder in your D drive to move the location to. You should then drag all those pictures that (I presume) are in your D drive to the Pictures folder in your D drive.

If you go to "This PC" and then right click say Documents and go to properties. You can go to the location tab and click Restore Default. If the folder isn't there it will ask you if you want to create one when you click apply.
