How to arrange tiles in the Start Menu in the order you want?

    Hi,

I am trying to arrange the tiles in the Start Menu in the order I want but it is impossible. If I move one to, let's say, the left, the other tiles around will also move in any direction.

It is a headache, more like a brain game, to arrange them in the order you want.

I just want to have my programs in the order I want in the Start Menu.

Does anyone know if this is possible at all?

    Thanks

It's like a puzzle. You just have to keep shifting them. Annoying isn't it.

It's called bad design. Solving a Rubic's Cube is easier than getting the tiles arranged in the order you want. Trying to place tiles you want next to each other must surely be easier than this nonsensical game.

Hold control and zoom out then (still holding Ctrl) right click a group and you will see it select them and at the bottom a name group option.

I think you can do that with a utility like this but I haven't tried it:
Windows 8 Consumer Preview Start Screen Customizer
    HTH.

Nope. Unless I missed something, that program (I resist to call apps to the programs in Windows PC ) doesn't arrange the tiles. It is for other things.

How did you guys manage in your screenshots? So far I managed to have all my programs together in the firts pack and the colorful apps in the second useless pack, but still I can't arrange the order in my first pack.

Lol. Microsoft has definetely gone bananas.

Top tip aramil, did not know that. I don't think you have to hold ctrl at all? That tool looks like the start of something useful brummyfan.

I just noticed you can right click a blank area and an option to see a list of all Apps pops up o_o

OP, the tiles aren't actually moving in a random direction. They cascade to the right, then down a row.
