Hi all, When you move your pointer to a left corner you should get either the start page or your open tasks/apps.

But it's only working occasionally on my desktop.

Is this a known problem, just my computer or just me being stupid?

I've experienced a few situations where the thumbnail didnt' pop up... once I was in mail, and the upper-left corner didn't work, but the lower left did. It was like that consistently for a while, and then it suddenly started working again.

I haven't found any reproducable scenarios yet. It seems random, but at least for me, it's rare.

It's rare if it works for me :(

Have you tried to re calibrate your monitor? You may have your desktop slightly expanded past what will fit on your screen

Yes, it's not the screen, if I click in the left bottom corner it goes to the start page, it's just the hover that doesn't work.

I am having a similiar problem with the mouse also. It works fine in desktop and to any corner. The mouse freezes in top left or bottom left if i am in metro screen when i open the device- settings window. I cannot get out of it even if i press the windows key. It just freezes my computer for 10-20 secs. When I am able to move the mouse again and I slide to either corner it freezes again. I am very disappointed with windows 8 preview so far :( So far for me it is very buggy and sure going to take a while to get use to the changes. Glad I have it installed on a separate drive.
Cheers

If you open any Metro programs and switch to desktop view, moving the pointer to the corner will show the previous program(s). If you haven't used any metro programs or Apps it won't show anything, I think.

I think it should always show the Start Page tile in the bottom left corner.

Yes but the mouse should not freeze the screen for a period...correct?

Have you tried updating the driver for the Pointing device? if that doesn't help, try a Refresh using this tutorial:

It happened a few more times for me last night... in a Metro App, and mouse pointer in the upper left did nothing.

A little later it started working again (after switching to desktop and back I think).

If there are no other apps running at all, at the very least, it should pop up with the Start Screen (i.e. same as lower-left corner)... it's inconsistent and confusing to have it work sometimes but not others. I'm not yet convinced this is the problem though, since I'm pretty sure I had other apps (at the very least, the desktop) running that could have been switched to, though.

I'm really surprised that there wasn't already threads about this, I did a google search before starting this thread and couldn't find anything. Mine is still working better than it was, it was probably only working 5% of the time, but at the moment it's probably working 70% of the time.

oh yes, thanks, although it seems to be just Windows+TAB, you don't need the CTRL :)

You're welcome. :)

You can press and hold Windows+Tab, then press Tab to cycle through the list of opened apps. As soon as you release the keys the Switch List bar will go away, and open whatever item you had selected.

Pressing Windows+CTRL+TAB and release will open the Switch List with it staying open to be able to either click on the item or use Tab+Enter to select a opened app to open again.

This is basically Windows 8 version of Flip 3D in Windows 7 and Vista.
