Hello all, I been trying to fix a fix for this, as far I know all MS windows 8.1 updates are installed, but the problem is I don't get the context menu when I right click any tiles in Metro. So I can't remove or re-size anything. When I right click it only give me check mark in right side the box. Anyone have any ideals?

thanks.

Welcome to the Windows 8 forums, Orless.

Your screenshot shows that yes, all updates are installed. I just checked and I have a context menu when I right click, but nothing like what I had before. There used to be a list of stuff along the bottom of my screen that's no longer there. Strange, but I guess I don't need it since I haven't missed it until now.

I guess I'll bow out for now and let someone else see if they can solve your problem. Sorry I can't help.

Hi oreless,

Good troubleshooting technique! Sounds like you may have a corrupted profile that may be difficult (at best) to repair. At least you have a way out now. I hope you are not using any of those miracle registry cleaners on a regular basis. They can cause many unexplainable issues.

Good luck,

After I installed windows 8.1 update one, my system started locking up so, I ran check disk it found a few errors and fix them. A new profile sounds like good start or maybe clean install. Anyways thanks for the help.

Orless, you may want to try sfc /scannow and see if anything else pops up.

Well it locked up windows so I went to re-install W8, but seem the A hole I bought my CD-Key from sold the same key a lot people so it's blocked. I can't reinstall W8. I had put Windows 7 back on until I can get my money back or buy other key. Some people suck and you can't trust anyone these days. I use Outlook I backed up my PSD. I just now got windows 7 reinstalled and working. Damn shame too cause I really liked windows 8.1  and I'm out 85.00 dollars. MS just said too bad. eBay's working to get my money back because he claim to MS reseller. I guess that's what I get for buying W8 off eBay in first place.

Well I don't have high hopes, because he's no longer a reg user on eBay and it's been 6 months. I can't afford to buy it again right now. But W7 work good so I'll make it. Just live and learn I guess.

Hello all, I been trying to fix a fix for this, as far I know all MS windows 8.1 updates are installed, but the problem is I don't get the context menu when I right click any tiles in Metro. So I can't remove or re-size anything. When I right click it only give me check mark in right side the box. Anyone have any ideals?

thanks.

Hm, I don't know if there is a real "Context Menu" per se on the Metro Side, but there should be at least some way to resize the tiles. 8 or 8.1? Maybe it's the Mouse settings, make sure the right click is set as Right Click. I'll get in there later and take a look, im still on 8.

Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.

I do believe the OP has gone back to Windows 7. Pressing the space bar while on the Metro Start Screen will bring up the old style Resize, Unpin from Start, menu bar at the bottom of the screen though.

EDIT: Update 1 for 8.1 adds a context menu to the Start Screen with the resize and unpin options when you right click on a tile.
