Hello

I have an all-in-one pc that is currently installed with Windows 8. I would like to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro. Is this free or is a cost associated with the upgrade?

Regards,
Elena

Hello elenach187,

That would not be a free upgrade. Many are taking advantage of the free 8.1 upgrade available via the Windows Store.

You can review the differences between 8.1 and 8.1 Pro here:

Compare and decide - Microsoft Windows

If you don't need those three additional features, I would just go with the free upgrade.

FYI, I have 8.1 Pro and I don't use any of the three.

Good luck with your own decision.

Use the Windows 8 Pro Pack to upgrade from 8 to 8 Pro. Once that's done and all updates have been installed, do the free upgrade to 8.1. See here: Add features - Microsoft Windows

Note: Pro pack is not free.

That comparison chart does not mention another difference between Win 8 Core and Win 8 Pro: If you want to run Windows Media Center you have to be running Pro version
