    Windows 8 gone to far

I have unzipped an audio file from my public library to burn to CD.
This is the path statement: This PC>Windows (c>Users>Name>OneDrive>Documents>File name
    Phew!!
Why must it be so hard?
Users, There is only me so why users? How many of us actually share our computers?
Can anyone tell me how to unzip to simply C:\Downloads and rid my system of too many steering wheels.
My thoughts about Windows 8 at the moment is it was designed not as a simple tool, but designed by someone who did not know when to stop.
    Thanks for any sympathetic help.

Hey mate a west aussie!!. Just drag the file to the desktop and unzip it there. I use Start Is Back to get the old desktop back permanently, so my pc doesn't go to the stupid metro screen, if you need more help let me know.

Welcome to Windows EightForums, BISHOP SEFFRID.

Hmm. The system usually asks where one wants to unzip the file as it has in past OSs. Did it not ask you?

Any files you download, should go to the download folder. My son runs Start8 with Stardock's "Metro Mix" on his Toshiba Satellite. He can still do Metro tiles within the desktop. But mostly just stays in the desktop for everything he does.

Metro is only hard, when people make it that way. If you set it up with the start screen for Metro, having the tiles for those items you use most. It is no harder then using Desktop mode.

    Hi Broe,
that depends on your browser settings, if and when you decide where you want them.
I use Palemoon, (firefox offshoot but both have the option), and download everything to desktop.
    why play hide and seek

    Doesn't seem hard, it's just a path.

Well, other people have multiple accounts on a single computer hence the reason C:\users. Gotta support as many people as possible with a singe design, hence the reasoning behind separate folders for users. This is common in every OS, including Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, as well as Linux and any recent flavor of Mac OSX.

You also have 3 accounts, plus a few other entries under Users:

    1. You account
    2. Administrator (normally hidden)
    3. Guest
    4. Public
    5. Default

Has nothing to do with the Web browser. You can set up Chrome for Desktop or Metro mode. Mozilla has removed the possibility of Metro from their latest distro.
