Anyone know what this is, and how I can remove it?

Go to C:/users/your name/ Desktop folder and see if there's a link you don't have on the desktop.

1. Control Panel. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, and then, in the list of results, click Performance Information and Tools.
2. Click Adjust visual effects. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Click the Visual Effects tab, click Adjust for best performance, and then click OK. (For a less drastic option, select Let Windows choose what’s best for my computer.)

Ok. Have you got "Show all files" checked in Folder Options by any chance?

You may want to try right clicking on desktop, check box "Hide desktop icons", reboot, then uncheck that box.

Tried this and it had no effect.

That seems to be a tooltip leftover, I got that many times since Windows 7 and without Steam running, I have to reboot.
