Acer Aspire 6935 upgrade to Windows 8, having a few issues

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I looked around this website and I found that the people in here are very kind. Anyway, I installed Windows 8.1 Professional onto my Acer Aspire 6935g and I found a few problems:

    - The brightness does not change at all wether I press FN and Right or Left, or do it from Windows 8. It doesn't change.

    - The sound and bass sounds perfect after installing drivers but every now and then it fuzzes, so for instance, when an error appears, it makes a "fzzzzzz" sound and it's annoying. (I did something to it and it might be working fine now, I have to wait and see.)

Those are the problems I am having at the moment, I have to wait and see if I get more problems on Windows 8. I have it dual-booted with Windows 7 just in case if anything goes wrong and thank lord I did. I am typing this in Windows 7 right now because Windows 8 is having some problems. Please can anyone help?

    - Ikram232

P.S, sorry if I posted this in the wrong category. I did not know which one to put it in!

I may be able to help you with the brightness issue, but the sound I sadly cannot. I had this issue today and found the source of my problems; Go to control panel -> Update Device Drivers -> look for monitors "Generic PnP monitor" and click update then manual, but select pick from existing; click the same one as indicated above and it should fix the brightness problem if your problem was similar to mine. (When I first had the issue it indicated the driver was corrupted, likely due to the recent 8.1 Update for me or immature sleep/shutdowns I ended up doing.)

( I am taking an apprenticeship as a technician, with further description of your problems I may be able to help you even further. )

On some laptops its a separate utility to run those keys and sometimes its backed into the drivers. You might have to install the Acer Launch Manager Utility, you can always uninstall it if it doesn't solve the issue. I had a 5920 but only ever ran Windows 7 on it.

I have Launch Manager installed. Don't want to uninstall it to see what happens but has been there since I bought the computer.

The Acer site doesn't list any 8 drivers for the 6935, that is not a good sign. The latest BIOS is also very old, 03/30/2010.

Old? Four years and old? Wellllllll, I guess in computer years, it may be . . . Compared to a dog's years, it's ummm, 28 years old. Yup, time fer a new one.

Seriously, I have two HP laptops that are more than four years old, one of which has been upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro Update and it's doing fine. No problems at all.

Just saying that IS old for laptops. I know on my Acer laptops the function keys are a combo of BIOS and drivers. Was trying to provide relevant info is all.
