I always used Windows DVD Maker in Windows 7 to burn movies and photos. How do I go about doing that in Windows 8. I can't seem to find that program anywhere. My first post! :D

Can't fine it on my system. Must not be included with Windows 8 CP. Maybe they will add it later.

Too bad, it is a simple, fast program. I hope they add it.

I really don't know why anyone would want Windows 8.

It IS there! Just open "Computer" , put a blank DVD in the DVDRW drive, and when the create opens, direct it to the folder where
the files you want to burn are. *Simple*

I'll have to take your word for it. After about a month with it, I removed it from my computer. Why no icon (oh, excuse me "App")? Windows 8 shuts down quickly. Other than that, I just don't see anything I like about it.

The DVDRW drive itself has directions on the application to burn a DVD disc. As long as it appeared as a DVDRW drive
that was all that was needed, no software like *example* Nero burning ROM, as I said all you needed to do was put in a blank
DVD , and either directed it to the folder you wanted burned, or drag and drop the files directly onto the blank disc. Quite simple.

Ya, I heard you the first time. Do you have a point or are you trying to show how smart you are?

In Windows 7, just type in DVD in the Start Menu and you get the DVD maker. I tried that in Windows 8 and it doesn't happen. Oh yeah, there is no Start Menu in Windows 8, which makes it even more important to add an icon (err 'App') DVD Maker. Do you get it?

I used Nero for years and dropped it in Windows 7 as Nero was unnecessary. A newbie should not need to grope around for an "App" or stick a blank DVD in the burner to get said 'App'. Surely, you jest.

Windows 8 with its Metro interface will fail just like Windows ME and Vista did. Windows 8 will be refined before its release, but I can't imagine the average user taking to it. They will just stick with Windows 7. ;)

Please share your thoughts, I would love to hear them!

OK First off, there is a WAY to get a Start button in Windows 8, actually a few ways, but so far
Vistart is the best choice, and you can get it from www.lee-soft.com/vistart Also there is no application
in Windows 8 that does what something like Nero does. All you can do is burn files, music, and videos to
CD/DVD with Windows 8cp. NOT saying that might change to a full fledge program to give you all sorts
of burning abilities.

Are we having this useless discussion again. Windows 8 is here and it will stay. It is anybodies choice whether to use it or not. But I bet there will be a lot more users than we think - especially in the mobile device area.

And even for the desktop it is a fine system. You just have to have the patience to set it up properly. What we have now is a preview and it is normal that not all functions are perfect yet - but they will be.

Agreed. I can't imagine my 70 year old Mother using it. She, along with others will want that Start button. Time will tell.

I am sure your young mother will love it. I am 74 and love it too. And I have tested it on a group of seniors (all over 65) and they thought it was easy to use.

Dunno about anything with Windows native DVD/MPEG encoding, but I highly recommend TMPGENC Plus 2.524.63.181 for high quality encodes. It is not the fastest out there, but has been used extensively by the scene because of quality purposes.

I feel 74 some days, but no, I'm 50. Sorry, I don't agree with the simple solution to find DVD Maker. Maybe an 'App' will be included in the next release.
