Agreed. I can't imagine my 70 year old Mother using it. She, along with others will want that Start button. Time will tell.
I am sure your young mother will love it. I am 74 and love it too. And I have tested it on a group of seniors (all over 65) and they thought it was easy to use.

Dunno about anything with Windows native DVD/MPEG encoding, but I highly recommend TMPGENC Plus 2.524.63.181 for high quality encodes. It is not the fastest out there, but has been used extensively by the scene because of quality purposes.

I feel 74 some days, but no, I'm 50. Sorry, I don't agree with the simple solution to find DVD Maker. Maybe an 'App' will be included in the next release.

    Try this:

    Shark007.net - Windows 8 Codecs - WMP12 Codecs
    Or:

Download the Windows Media Player MPEG-2 and DVD Video Decoder Utility

+1, that is the only codec pack that I would tolerate on my system. It is safe.

Codec packs are a no no, at least that was understanding. Windows 7 doesn't need it. Oops, I'm being difficult...
