I've genuine win 8 installed on my machine with activation. i've received reccomendation from MS to upgrade it to 8.1 for free. The prob is that once i've already tried it before, and when i did the upgrade and tried to go on win store and plan to make a purchase of some software, it asked me for the key. Then i went back to my system and checked the activation status, it shown up with the message "activate windows". I had no rating anymore.
Can anybody come up with some good help and better suggestion?

Hi there.

Short answer --YES (and better if you go to W8.1 update 1 - especially if you are primarily a desktop user). - W8.1 update 1 will boot by default to the desktop -- so if you really want the "Kiddy Mobile phone start screen" then you have to switch off Boot directly to desktop in the Navigation section in the control panel.

Cheers
