Windows 8.1 Update 1 Bug: The start button is locked .

The start button is locked (clicking does not open Metro)

    Hello Friends.
Since installing the update 1, I have a random problem: when I click on the start button, it does not respond.
The solution? Log off or restart the computer.

It's strange, because without the update, I did not have this problem.

    Could anyone help?

    Thanks!

    Hello Pablo,

Do you have any 3rd party Start Menu program installed that may have an option to disable the Start button?

    Hi Brink.
Nope. Nothing installed except this update.

Have you noticed this happening after anything specific?

I installed the update, prior to the launch from Windows Update.
There were several update files, which should be installed in a specific order.
I respected that order, and the update was installed correctly.
That's when I noticed this problem. Then I uninstalled the update, and waited to release it by Windows Update.
Finally, I installed this update through Windows Update, and I again I have the same problem.

I do not want to reinstall, but it seems that there are no options.

To try and avoid reinstalling, you might see if troubleshooting with a clean boot may reveal a culprit through the process of elimination.

Hi I got win 8.1 update 1 fully updated. The Windows 8.1 Start Button Changer worked well until previous versions of windows 8.1. But after the update 1 (on build 9600), it gives an error "twinui.dll already exists" and crashes (after I chose what orb to replace). So any alternatives on how can...

So I updated all of my computers to Windows 8.1 Update 1 via Windows Update yesterday. I noticed that on my laptop, my desktop, and my wife's tablet, the power button shows up between the user profile picture and magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the Start Screen. However, it does...
