    The Metro Start Screen scrolls horizontally for me with my trackballs (vertical) scroll wheel. I'm sure it would do the same thing if I had a mouse. I've never had to use the scroll bar.

    It does.

    My cheap generic IR mouse scurries around Win 8 just as happily as it did Win 7.
