I didn't see anything in folder options that would help. Or taskbar properties.

did some google searches , and seen lots of suggestion for win7 ,some/most were registry edits ,
but one that worked for some was to shutdown the laptop ,remove the battery ,hold the power button to drain power from laptop ,put battery back in and reboot ,seen some say this fixed it but only for a few weeks and it started again

the only place I could fine where it says always on top in a toolbar option is task manager , not sure if setting this to open on top would make any difference on other program

that's what I thought ,but I also thought in other versions of windows we could right click on a programs start icon and change it there. will check in vist ,just remembered I have a computer running beside me with vista on it ,lol

    edit-
no it just offers normal window, max and minimise

so maybe make sure its set to normal window

    Guys, thanks for the replies.

My windows open up, but behind the current window. I spent most of the day yesterday searching for a solution with no luck.

Since I am also having an issue loading the software for my printer, I have decided to do a "Factory Restore". The laptop is less than a week old & isn't fully "set-up" yet so I'm trying that.

As soon as the recovery is done, I'll check for the "window opening behind" issue and check it after each piece of software I install.

If I can't rectify this I can live with it I guess? I will frustrate the hell out of me, but I can live with it.

I do, However, need to have my printer installed.

    Thanks again for your help

I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Got the factory restore done and it took forever. It was too late to check anything out by the time it finished. I'll check it out tonight after work and report back.

Sorry about the delay in updating this thread.

As mentioned, I have done a factory restore and now all is well. I haven't re-installed all my stuff yet so this is subject to change without notice.

Now I have to figure out why I can install my printer software and I'll be good to go.

    Thanks for all your help.

EDIT: Since I had a fresh factory install I thought I would get my printer software installed. I had only the factory stuff installed and didn't install anything else. I uninstalled the virus software that came installed from the factory and my printer software installed without a hitch. All is well again!!

Hi guys. I need some help with my Windows 8.1 Core. Hi, I'm using StrokeIt software (which executes actions on mouse gestures), and I'm so used to it that when a Windows 8 app is open (let's say the 'Reader') I often minimize it with a mouse stroke hoping to return to the desktop but the app is simply minimized and an empty blue screen replaces it....
Under Windows 8, when I minimize a window it disappears completely? Have I somehow changed a setting for the actions of the minimize button? Task manager show the program running but nothing appears in the taskbar. All programs are doing this so it must be a Windows 8 setting? Thanks Chris
