Does WMP (not WMC) play DVDs with "Media Center Pack"?

    Hello,

Does Windows Media Player (not Windows Media Center) play DVDs with "Windows 8 Media Center Pack" installed on Windows 8.1 Pro update 1?

    Many thanks

You would be better to use VLC. Windows Media Center costs more now, since the special pricing is gone.

No. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom stripped that ability out of 8.x. That is why so many are using VLC.

Even if you added WMC, WMP will not play DVD's.
You have to play DVD's through WMC.
