Noticed that my 8.1 laptop I upgraded was very dirty (uninstalling and installing programs here and there) and decided a clean reinstall using the Windows 8 OEM Disc I bought.

I used DBAN's Quick Erase and Installed Windows 8. Then I installed all 210 updates and proceeded to the Windows Store. I installed the 8.1 Update and everything went smoothly. (Except for the fact that this time the upgrade was a little bit longer than the first time, because this is just a reinstall.)

Then this happened: Screenshot (1).pngScreenshot (5).png

I didn't have that power button on my picture! And apps did not mix with the desktop! I didn't have those in my previous installation! So did I miss anything? 8.2? I don't know. Can anyone explain to me those?

The power button is part of the 8.2 upgrade I believe as it missing or hard to find was one of the oft repeated complaints about 8 and 8.1.

Good article here on Windows 8.1 update 1 (aka 8.2): Windows 8.1 Update: 5 Essential Facts

1. Boot-to-desktop is the new normal.
2. File associations are smarter.
3. Modern apps can be treated more like legacy applications.
4. The Start screen gets a mouse-friendly makeover.
5. Installation will be easier -- and more mandatory -- for some than others.

The way I read the OP the TC already has Win8.1u1. Don't worry TC, the power button only appears on certain devices. I believe if your device is touchscreen enabled, it is classed as a 'mobile' device, and thus doesn't have the power button. The power button on the Start Screen is only set to appear on desktops/non-touchscreen laptops.
