Solved Photos

I do not store my photos in "my pictures" folder on "c" drive as I have an SSD. Is there a way of moving "my pictures" to another drive or having the windows 8 photo viewer browse for photos elsewhere other than "my pictures" folder?

Tell me when you discover. I had the same here.

I have the same problem all my music, photos are stored on a NAS (Network Attached Storage drive) I have a work around This might help you

Thanks turbogo ..... I managed to create the link as you showed and the photos showed up in my library however when I opened Photo in metro it still would not recognise them as there?????

No the metro photo tile does not seem to see them not sure why I guess its the Metro app that is the problem. When you use Skydrive metro tile & go to pictures I can see all my linked photos.

I have reviewed the app & added comment telling them that this does not work.

I would make a seperate data partition on the HDD and move the pictures (and whatever) into there. Then INCLUDE the folders into the appropriate library (right click on the folders and you will see).

Warning: do not try to share a Win7 data partition with Win8. You will get a permission problem when you go back to Win7. That's why I suggest a completely independent data partition just for Win8.

Thanks whs however when I open my NAS and right click on th photo folder I do not get the option to include them in the library. However if I copy the folder to another drive I can right click and I get the include in library option but that defeats the purpose as I want my photos stored on my NAS but viewable through the photo app.

I guess then you have to make a seperate partition on the NAS and access them via the partition in Computer. I am not really familiar with a NAS, but I would think that this would work. Just do not share the pics between Win7 and Win8 in the same partition because of the permissions.

Thanks Phone Man that works well. Still does not resolve why you cannot add the folder from a NAS and make it work though.

I posted early in a post I called Pictures but did not get this resolved. So in the picture am I doing something wrong because you can't put 100 GB of pictures on the C drive or an SSD drive?
