as I use for my other laptop? Or would there be a safety issue and would it mean that the two laptops would have the same Microsoft account?

I am almost 100% certain you can use the same Windows ID for as many computers as you want to. In fact I think there may be benefits to it. Especially if you are using cloud. And you don't need to sign out of one to use the other.

Hmm - I did think there would be benefits to it and I didn't know whether I would have to sign out of one to use the other. Thanks.

I use the same Microsoft account password on my 3 computers. Has the advantage of syncing things like desktop, favorites, etc. if you want to do so.

I would not use the same computer name. If you use Homegroup or other networking, it would make it harder to tell one from another.

Just go to Settings... PC Settings ... SkyDrive .... Sync Settings. There it will give you several options about what to sync (or not sync) between your multiple computers.

I use the same Live ID on two desktops and a laptop. I do however turn some of the OneDrive sync settings off. Tile layout being one of them. My laptop and desktop monitors have different resolutions. If I don't turn the tile layout sync off, my tiles get constantly shuffled depending on what PC I used last. It took me a while to figure out why it was happening.

No problems using the same username & password. What you do not want to do. Is name the computer the same name. Otherwise it screws up the Router IP Table & Netbios.

It makes it easier if you are moving files between computers on the same LAN.
