SD Card corrupted, need to recover data...
I have a 4GB Verbatim SD card that I used in my digital camera. Today, I realized that all the pictures that were there in the SD card are gone! When I try to see the pics in the camera itself, The camera says " No data in Image File". I connected the SD Card to my Desktop using a card reader but still, The folder which includes the images does not open. The error message says " J:\DCIM\108NIKON is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."
I have some really important pictures and data on the SD Card so i can't format. Neither can I risk data loss. I want to recover all the data from the card. Is there a way to do it? Please Help...

Well... I did try Recuva... and the files could not be recovered... JPEG files of size 4 KB were saved but obviously, they are not the pics. The SD Card still shows space occupied so I guess they are not wiped off, but how can they be recovered? I'll see if I can get i care Data Recovery and see if it works...
Thanks for the reply btw.. and if there is a better method, then please do tell. Any help will be appreciated.

I had once faced this kind of situation. My friend had Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery Professional and he recovered the data for me. If you are ready to pay, I recommend this software.

iCare didn't work too... It gave me the files.. but they were all of 4 KB, just as in the case with Recuva. I'll try Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery Professional if I could get it...

Will chkdsk command help?
Chkdsk is not a recovery tool. It can actually destroy the information on the SD card. The best option is the Linux tools that I posted.
