Glad to hear that you got it sorted.

The tutorials will often have links in the steps that will provide additional details on that action.

Yep, the search feature in Windows 8/8.1 can be very useful.

Since Win 8 likes to hide things, one of the first things I do when setting up a new 8 or 8.1 is run a little script to UN-Hide Hidden files.
Next in importance is "Grant Admin Full Control" which I can use to become the owner of every file in the computer, that I might ever want access to.

If you own the PC, it helps to own the OS too. Eh?

Brink, I should have know that you would already have shown that feature. I thought that the side search was new with 8.1.

TechnoMage, From your comment it sounds like this is a constant issue. Want to share your script if we need to re-establish hidden? Boy you are right about backup. I was using a backup with Big Name program. But it was worthless when the drive it was on failed. From now on I will probably use the copy and overwrite system. No recovery software needed. I am literately starting form scratch now. I lost all my emails, it is like I just found out about computers and the internet.

    Silvera,

It's not recommended to always have hidden system files showing to help prevent them from being modified or deleted by mistake. However, the tutorial below can add a show/hide hidden files context menu to make it easier to do as needed.

Show - Hide Hidden Files - Add to Context Menu - Windows 7 Help Forums

It's also not recommended to take ownership of the entire C: drive. Doing so can cause issues. If you like, the "Take Ownership" context menu in the tutorial below can make it easy to take ownership of items as needed.

Thank you, your title should be "Administrator / Sage". You are probably right. I just might delete by accident. I will watch your tutorials when I get back. I'm sure you do not remember me but you were a great support when I first discovered the Forums. As they say "A little knowledge can be dangerous." I was getting myself in territory where I was lost because I tried to do things that I really had know idea how to implement.
