What's the prob with Navigation --enc 2 screenshots I LIKE IT !!!!!

    Hi there
just finished installing the Consumer preview on a VM

Why people are saying older windows users will not like the new navigation panel to me says that they are afraid THEMSELVES to say they don't like it

I'm older and have been using computers for donkeys years including things like TSO on old IBM mainframes (MVS/370 etc) ands I don't have an issue with it.

The small bottom left corner (or depending on where you've opted to place your task bar) is fine for switching from desktop to Metro and the navigation panel on the right of the screen is also fine for switching off etc.

Don't worry if it takes you more than 3 secs to learn -- it's actually fairly simple --- unfortunately in these days of instant gratification people just don't seem to have patience or perseverance any more.

Anyway MS -- you've got a proper runner here -- can't wait for "The finished article".

enc screenshots -- for Navigation click on the tiled box ( bottom left screenshot 2)

for settings / switch off etc hover mouse over the magnifying glass at the bottom right of screen (shot1) You'll have to enlarge the image to see it clearly. When you see the icons just move the mouse into the space --- brilliant.

I did have another post on saying should I keep the developer preview or switch -- I'm going to Switch after a few more tests on the VM.

    cheers

Actually Jimbo I think you are right. Older people will probably find it easier once they get used to it. It's just us old geeks that like to have everything customized that will have to work at it a bit to get it as we like it.

    Hi there
It's actually even easier than this.

Just point the Mouse at ANY of the top corners on the screen -- easy navigation.

I didn't spot that as I was in "Windowed mode" on the VM -- in Full screen works fine.

The concern I had over Max screen resolution seems to be misfounded as ell -- plays fine on a Large Plasma TV with HDMI output from the computer. No probs with the VM so far --- also now installing as a real machine on a netbook where I had the developer preview up and running

    Cheers

I've been using Windows since Windows 286, and now 8, and it's always the same thing, new people dont have patience to customize things.

Its more the young guys that have a problem with it, the older guys are used to the different OS from DOS to Windows 8.

So correct on that. Us so called old geezers have been through a wide variety of operating systems and are able to adapt to these changes. I started out with the TI pc (ouch) and have adapted to the various changes through the years. The current generation of people has only seen Windows starting from XP and they don't seem to want to spend the time to learn something new. How can anyone say after 2 hours that Win8 sucks, that is in no way enough time to evaluate an OS. My initial impression of Win8 was not good but after using it for a few days and learning the new UI I have adapted to it and like it. Of course there are some things that need improvement but after all this is a beta. MS will get a ton of feedback over the next few months and make changes.
This reminds me of at work at the hospital when the company upgrades their computer system and I hear so many people at work say "this is horrible, why did they do this, it sucks". I would say take the time, change is good, embrace change instead of running away from it. After a few months they have adapted and actually end up liking it.

Win 8 & Revo Uninstaller ?prob? in Software and Apps
Hi, I've been using Revo (free) for years but since buying a new laptop with Win 8.1 it doesn't appear to picking up on all installed programs. Do I need to tell Revo of all installation folders and if so, how?! I'm guessing this isn't strictly a Win 8 problem but I can't find any Revo...
