I've been using Win8 for a long time now on my laptop and I'm very happy with it.
I now have purchased a 10" Win8 tablet. Do I really need to upgrade to 8.1? Quite a few people seem to be experiencing upgrade problems. What are the main advantages with 8.1?
There is another update coming April 8th that will be an update for Win 8.1 users only. If you'd like that update, you'll need to upgrade to Win 8.1 first.
