How to apply patches on Win8?

Hi. On XP I used to use GnuWin32, you just select .patch file -> Open with -> patch.bat and it does the work, now on Win8 this doesn't do anything, I guess because of admin privileges? So how do I apply patches on Windows 8 Pro x64?

You know, a .patch file, it updates ++ -- differences for the files and that's how you patch a file.

What exactly were you working on ?

I Googled Git & it sounded interesting.

Your input on your project would be interesting to me & others here.
