Solved lock screen win 8.1

Hello
I made the mistake of including family photos in the lock screen choices.

I am trying to remove family pictures from the row at the lock screen preview. I don't want to change a lot of other things along the way if possible. I was hoping I could just right click the 3 family pictures and remove them but they won't go. The piano is the one I see and that is alright but the 3 to the right are the ones I want to clear.
Is there a way to do this?

Hello Peter,

So far the easiest way to remove older selected images used for your lock screen background is to change your lock screen to other images until the 3 old ones are replaced with the newer old ones.

The default background images used for the lock screen are located in the C:\Windows\Web\Screen folder. Those would be good to use to select until your images are gone.

I keep reading the lines your refer to and cannot seem to do it. Can I copy and paste to lock screen to replace. I have been to the file location but cannot seem to get others to fill in.
If there is a sort of simple answer to replace it would be great.
Meanwhile I will continue to try to browse to replace as you said. The browse seems not to follow the path to the choices and when there I don't understand what to do. I have Win 8.1 pro.

You would basically just be changing your lock screen background to images in the C:\Windows\Web\Screen folder until your old ones you wanted removed are replaced. Afterwards, change your lock screen back to the image you want it to be again.

I click on browse hoping to reach the path but win 8.1 stops at C: and does not allow me to browse to these other photos along the path indicated.

I am currently copying the photos in web to documents and browsing to there so we will see.

Ah, I see what you mean now. Yeah, copying them to another location to temporarily use to switch to will work as well.

Thanks to you, Brink, on again, I was successful. I copied the default pictures from the path to documents as that is as far as browse could go. than I displaced the family ones with them.

If you had not suggested that I would still be hammering away. I could not find this on Google or YouTube etc. so thank you big time once again.

You're most welcome Peter. It would indeed be nice to have a simple clear history option for this.

I hope the files I copied are ok and that is a safe way of getting them if done carefully.
