    Login screen

My wife said that her login screen had ______________ i. Now it has_________________ ->. What is the difference between a login with an i. Or an arrow. She wants the i back.

The arrow is the same as pressing 'enter'. It allows you to log in. An 'i' would possibly be the password 'hint' or something like that. I have never seen an 'i' to my recollection, and I do not believe there is any way to change it at all. Hope this helps

    Eye not I

I finally saw a picture of what she was talking about. It was an eye symbol before the arrow. Now she Only has the arrow. Sorry for incomplete info.

Oh! That is a method of revealing what is being typed, so you can see the password you enter. I would guess some kind of update removed that feature for whatever reason. I do not remember when it was removed, but I didn't do it manually on my computer, yet I do not see it anywhere. Someone else may have a more definitive answer, but I do not see a way of getting it back

Ah! update: I restarted my computer, and both the eye and arrow were present, but if I lock my computer, the eye is gone...

That would be the password reveal (aka: fermata eye) button. It only displays while typing in a password.

Lol. From now on Shawn, I am typing these keywords into your tutorial section. I'm always sure to pull up something.

That is right. As soon as I type in the password, the 'eye' is revealed. You have to click and hold it to keep the password revealed. The arrow, however, is always present

It is possible she went from a Local Account, to a Live account, or vice versa.

It wouldn't make any difference. The password reveal button behaves the same for all accounts.

I forgot about that, due to all we use is Live accounts. My son complained about the change, when I installed 8.1 on his laptop. Now he does not mind the change to logging in with a Live account.

So I disabled the lock screen as it's just another unnecessary click to login, but what I want to be able to do is customise the background image of the login/ctrl+alt+del screen. I know you can change the "accent" colour but I don't want to use a solid colour. How do I go about this?
