    On screen notifications, general question

In Windows 8.1 do the on screen notifications only show on the Start screen?

I'm talking about the big ones I see with the black bar, such as low battery warning.

Twice I've been on the desktop and I never got a low battery warning. To test I made sure I was on the Start screen and sure enough the warning popped up. Also, when I switched over to the desktop the battery icon showed the exclamation point where I don't think it ever did when always on the desktop.

It should notify you wherever you are . A couple a minutes ago I got a low-battery warning (6%) while I was on the desktop roaming this forum.

I didn't get it at least twice while on the desktop.

When on the desktop is it a balloon from the battery icon? Or is it the big black bar like on the Start screen?

edit: While I was posting here from my desktop my laptop with Windows 8.1 shut down from low battery. When it started back up it was on the desktop and there was the low battery warning. Why I haven't seen it a few times I do not know.

    I don't know why it won't notify you, I'm sorry I couldn't help.

Solved General help question, please- in General Support
I don't know what the function is called that I'm looking for help with is, but I'll try to describe it. When using the mouse pad, sometimes touching it will cause font size on the screen to increase or decrease. Is there a way to disable that?
