Hello Robster, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If the laptop came preinstalled with Windows 8, then your OEM product key is embedded in the BIOS/UEFI firmware now. The product key is no longer on a COA sticker on the computer anymore. When you fo a factory restore of Windows 8, it will auto detect the product key from the firmware chip and automatically enter it. :)

but that is where you will find the key

you use a scanner to zoom into a about 5mm to 6mm area, you will find the key there - that is where I found mine

On my laptop that has the factory OEM install, there is no product code on the COA sticker. I can magnify it all I want but there on product code on it. It's stored in the BIOS. My Windows 8 install media reads it automatically during the install without prompting me to enter one. Its all automatic.
