This will be Microsofts biggest ever flop, far bigger than Vista.

THC can do that. Not good for short term memory. By any chance, do your neighbors throw large parties with a smell eminating from them?

    j/k

If you open the device manager and then right click on the audio device needing a driver (or unknown device if it exists) - choose properties then details tab - now change the dropdown to say hardware ids. Copy/paste the results here and tell me if you're running x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) - I will get a driver for you.
What do noisy neighbors have to do with it?

You can't copy-paste anything from Device Manager!!

& I have searched the net for an answer.

Microsoft have answered my question by saying " We know there is a problem, we will get back to you when we find an answer!!

It is a VIA HD sound system on an ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard.

See if you can find a driver!!

Noise wasn't in my thoughts. Perhaps their air pollution from miscellaneous activities at the parties. lol

    Install the driver from here:

Hi Tully, just contact Microsoft at 1-800 MICROSOFT, then choose the Customer Service Prompt, let the person know what
had happen, they will reset your Office so that it will let you activate it again. Always remember for software that you activate, you have to un-activate it so you can reuse it when you do testing.

    Windows 8 32 bit

I agree with most of runingnak3d's comments. I'm running both Windows 8 & Ubuntu's latest offering in a virtual machine within Windows 7. My thoughts after 2 days of tinkering with both is that Ubuntu is intuitive & logical & works with most of my hardware whilst this latest offering from Microsoft is at the Beta stage is frankly a mess. What happened to the American adage"Keep it simple Stupid". If it's no better at release stage I for one won't be wasting hard earned cash on upgrading.

For the 15-30 yr olds. They will like this new toy
For the 22+ if they are in a work environment they will hate this new 0S (including myself)
    Why u ask?
One should not have to dig into the OS to find things. If you want to dig then go buy a Mac
This OS the way it is now is not productive for the business user especially the average business user. Businesses like to get things done as fast as possible. In windows 8 if one has to dig to find applications nothing is going to get done in a timely fashion
I agree. For a tablet it works but not for a desktop or even a laptop
If one is using a pc for just surfing the Internet, checking email, playing music, looking at pictures then the OS is perfect for you
If you want to be productive it is not
One should not have to write scripts to make a OS work and most average users have no idea how to even write one
I would hope Microsoft at least reads some of the comments in here and on their own forums
If Microsoft wants this Metro apps give us both worlds. Put everything like the way it was in Windows 7 onside the Desktop App. This way one can decide which way they want.
To tell you the truth if Microsoft ignores everyone's suggestions I see more ppl going towards a Mac which would make Apple very happy

Robin, what keeps you from being productive. I really fail to see your point. And I am 5 times 15 years old.

From what I am hearing, this version of Windows 8 is for the home user, and Microsoft will be releasing a Professional version.
NOW remember this is all speculation at this point in time. You can find this information at the usual rumor mills.

Ummm the fact that you have to muddle through the OS to find one of your document you created or saved especially if you have not a clue where to find them
