Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250)

The main problem are apps. If there isn't enough Metro apps, nobody would buy Windows 8. Quite fair.

However, I don't know why is Microsoft providing apps for free in Consumer Preview. Most of developers are loosing motivaton, because they're programming for nothing. Yes, apps will be paid in RTM (or ever sooner), but still, you know.

The problem that I see with Metro is still the same I saw back then when the DP was released. It's just that I don't think is a matter of taste, Metro is a completely different interaction style meant for touch that is at best awkward and inefficient when it's taken out from its original context.

That's why even if I could see myself working around it, I'd rather not to, which is a shame, because there are elements in the traditional desktop that are indeed improved over Windows 7.

BTW, I don't see the "you're just against change" argument that I see it's been used sometimes by some as a compelling one.

Exactly, Windows 8 as great features, but this Preview for me should be only the sketch of an idea , not something they will sell. Works have to be done. Microsoft is trying to find a "One fit all” solution, they seems desperate to do so.

It’s very simple to fix all that mess; they just have to make a good phone and tablet OS interface , and they just have to provide us the same interface as an option to install on our PC, something we can run in a window, not in full screen only. That's it problem solve. See I'm not just complaining I have solutions ....

MS got all the same feedback from the previous release WDP (Windows Developer Preview ).

They saw many people using hacks to get to the normal Full scale Interface ( desktop).

If you did that in WDP - you got the regular start menu.

MS knew people would not choose to go back to metro.

That is why MS have removed the regular start menu from this release.

    It is deliberate.

    They have removed the choice.

They want to force metro in your face constantly.

That is so you will go online to the MS clouds.

That is where they want you.

In the Washington, Dc area Metro is the train transit system. In my opinion Metro being forced onto PC users is a train wreck!

Perhaps they are just trying it on to see if they can get away with it in wcp.

It depends how many people complain.

It looks like some are just giving in.

If you don't ask - you don't get.

Sometimes in order to move forward there has to be some casualties. I have been using windows and computers since the days of BBC Basic and have always gone with change. I will say I was a tad frustrated with the interface initially, but once I started working my way around it I am starting to like it. The biggest issue with the desktop is the lack of multitouch drivers that can take advantage of the interface. Once synaptics and others get their beta drivers out, Windows 8 will feel much better.

As stated before the potential for increased productivity for business as well as home users is massive. Full screen apps, multiple desktops and the fastest core windows that has ever been produced.

Ask yourself one question, is your glass half full or half empty?

I think that is the point. You have to use the new interface for a while to feel comfy with it.

It is, however, true that switching between the Metro interface and the Desktop interface is like walking from one world into another. There is little harmony.
